Located in a peaceful valley with stunning views across the hills, featuring a ruin plus an old windmill, this would make a great retreat property. The almost 3ha property slopes up from the road all the way to the top of the ridge boasting lovely views to the lake to the north as well as all the way to the coast where the skyline of Portimão is visible. The property is of sufficient size to qualify for a potential rural tourism project.
On the upper ridge is an old windmill with thick stone walls waiting to be renovated. A rough stone track winds up to the windmill, and there are some flat terraces of land with trees. On the lower part of the property is an old house in ruins which could be rebuilt, and there is a total construction area of 135m2. There are currently 3 wood cabins (moveable) on the property.
Stone steps lead from the parking area to the main cabin (50m2) with a covered terrace along its south-side - a lovely spot to rest and soak up the views. Filled with rustic charm, it has 2 bedrooms (one currently used as a store room), one bathroom with walk-in shower, and an open-plan living room and kitchen with wood-burning stove. Pretty cottage pane windows open off the living room onto a spacious covered terrace with plenty of space to relax and dine outside while listening to the sounds of nature. Next to this terrace is a charming outdoor kitchen and bbq area - perfect for al-fresco meals. To the other side of the cabin and shaded by the pine tree is a plunge pool with plenty of space for sun loungers on the surrounding wood deck with pergola for shade.
Slightly below the main cabin is a comfortable guest cabin (40m2). This has 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower cubicle. The openplan living room has a kitchen area and space to relax with a wood stove, and doors opening onto a covered terrace overlooking the valley.
There is another guest cabin to the east side of the property. This cabin has one bedroom, bathroom with shower cubicle and cosy living room with kitchenette. Adjoining this cabin is another room which is currently used as an artist's studio. In front of these rooms is a wood deck, again with views over the valley.
In addition to the 3 wood cabins, there is also a wood shed, workshop and dog kennel. Water is from municipal mains supply and stored in a 5000 litre tank.
The property is located between 2 small villages, both of which are about a 20 minute walk. One has a small supermarket and café, and the other has 2 restaurants. The market town of SB de Messines is only 5km and it has a daily produce and fish market, shops, restaurants, schools, health centre and train station. The medieval town of Silves with its castle, river and restaurants is only 15 minutes drive, and Silves golf is 20 minutes. The coast is approximately 25 minutes and Faro airport is 40 minutes by motorway.
