This self-sufficient little cottage is nestled in the countryside in a pretty valley just 1.5 km from one of the Costa Vincentina Natural Park's beautiful beaches. Perfect for anyone looking to live a simple life with almost no bills to worry about! The 75 square metre cottage (roughly 12 x 6.5 metres) sits on a long thin strip of land measuring 7800 square metres (almost 2 acres). Access to the property is via a tarmac country lane. The driveway passes through a small flat field before reaching a turning circle with a row of grape vines in the centre. 

The house itself faces south and comprises an entrance door leading directly into the kitchen-diner which is bright and airy with a high wooden ceiling. There's a lovely sheltered outdoor seating area off the kitchen, overlooking the garden. Next to the dining area is the bathroom and opposite is an archway leading to the living room which has a free-standing log burner, perfect for winter nights. Off the living room is a little sun-room that could double up as a small guest bedroom if required. There is a further small double bedroom off the living room.

External steps lead up to a large roof terrace where the 3 solar panels are sited. These generate a 12 Volt power supply with an inverter to give 240 Volts if required. The hot water boiler and the cooker, etc. are all run off gas bottles. The water supply comes from a large open well and the water is pumped to the house. The property is perfectly habitable but does require some work and cannot be extended due to Natural Park restrictions. Mains electricity could be connected at a cost (approximately €10,000). The property has a self-cleaning septic tank system. There's also a little work-shop adjoining the house.

The property is surrounded by a variety of fruit trees including apple, oranges, almond, plum, quince, pomegranate, white mulberry, loquat and sharon fruit trees. There's a little cobbled patio off the kitchen with an antique stone sink plus an adjacent outdoor seating area which was once a water tank (approximately 80 cm deep). This could potentially be restored to a water tank for cooling off in, but permission to build a permanent pool would not be possible (again due to Natural Park restrictions). Little stone paths meander through the garden and trees. There is also a little chicken coop (in use) plus the ruins of what was probably 2 pig sheds and a donkey stable, built from rough stone. They are not mentioned on the property documents but could possibly be restored for animal use. There is also an old caravan that will remain and other pretty areas such as a lovely shady spot for a hammock under the trees and areas perfect for growing vegetables. Two gullies run down the land to channel any winter rain away, but are dry for most of the year. 

The house and surrounding trees are all on the bottom third of the land. Behind the old pig sties, the strip of land slopes upwards into a complete wilderness, yet to be explored and teeming with wildlife! Of course the land could be cleared if required or left as nature intended. Bird watchers and nature-lovers will be in their element here as the nearby valley attracts everything from herons to eagles and otters to mongooses. The local beach, which is completely unspoilt with no facilities other than parking) is only just over a kilometre away. The village of Budens which has a good supermarket amongst other amenities is also only just over a kilometre away. Restaurants, cafes and bars can be found at the resorts of Salema and Burgau, both only a 5 or 6 minute drive away. Although by no means isolated, there are no immediate neighbours to the property, so peace and quiet are guaranteed.
